Manoury worked at IRCAM and UCSD before retiring in Strasbourg. His music is influenced by Boulez, Stockhausen, and Xenakis. In the movement for vibraphone from The Book of Keyboards, velvet tones and strident bursts alternate throughout, giving rising to a temporal ebb and flow.
